Caravan Race Series #2, July 20-2002

Baysox Stadium, Bowie, Maryland

The Race Series and Course:  Caravan Skate Shop in Beltsville, Maryland brought back their much appreciated race series for the sixth consecutive year.  Intermediate and Advanced categories skate 10K races, with 2K races for the 12 and under group.  Six more races follow this season and the awards are better than ever, along with a great new course this year.  Bowie Baysox stadium lot provides 4 left and 1 right turn per lap-- 14 laps per 10K-- fast and mostly flat.

The Advanced Category Men's Races:  Indoor nationals depleted the competition somewhat, but our local skaters didn't use this race as a social skate.  Capital Racing's Jose Escobar and Eric Lisica broke early in the race and lapped the pack, while three of their teammates kept the competition company with an eye to holding back the chase.  Capital Racing's Lisica and Escobar took 1st and 2nd, Caravan's Rodney Grabinski was 3rd, and Capital Racing's Mark Grabowicz and Michael Dyas took 4th and 5th, with Dyas repeating in first in the Master's category..
